One For The Team

I’m just doing my part to help Weblogs.com hit the 1000 high-water mark.

Awesome. It made it. =-)

[Also: New Power Mac G4s are out and I don’t feel an overwhelming need to buy one. This is a good thing.]

What’s up with you, Walt? How can you NOT want one of the G4’s … they are absolutely sweet! Just wondering when they’ll hit DK! Oh well … I probably can’t afford one, either way!

I can’t even fathom paying that much for a computer. Well, maybe the lowest end one, but then I’d need a display, and I’d want the SuperDrive…

The new Powermac is looking good. Not that I’m gonna buy one in near future unless I hit the big lottery hehe.

BTW … Dr. Pepper r0x .. I found some little pakistani kiosk who sells them hehe. They are very hard to get in Denmark ;(

Nick Runco wrote:

i like dr. pepper.

9.

you probably like mr. pibb too

10.

brian - i heard that the standard sized can of soda is smaller over there than it is here.. is that true?

11.

Scott Yager wrote:

I like Dr. Pepper and Mr. Pibb. But I don’t drink soda anymore if I can help it.

Brian Poulsen wrote:

Rachelle - Yes the smallest soda is 25 cl. where a can holds 33 cl. However the 25 cl. Glass bottle soda isn’t really sold that much anymore. The “standard” is a 50 cl. plastic bottle. Much like the 15 ounce bottle you have in the states ( or how much it is. it contains a little more than a can ). The Dr. Pepper sodas I got was on can

Scott Yager wrote:

33 cl = centiliters? If so, that’d be 330 ml…isn’t that what size the cans here are? Or they might be something like 355 ml…

14.

cans here are 12 oz. and the bottles are 20 oz.

15.

Scott Yager wrote:

Yeah but they are also in metric units as well.

16.

Brian Poulsen wrote:

ahh yes.. 12 oz and 20 oz…

And yes 33 cl is 330 mililiter ;)

Long live the metrics system ;)

Scott Yager wrote:

I hate when things are referred to in acres. I have no concept of how big an acre is, so that means nothing to me.

Derek Gomez wrote:

I like the metric system too, Brian. It’s one of the few relatively recent European-inspired inventions that I do like… Although I don’t think I’ll ever prefer kilometers to miles or km/h to mph… But for small things, I like it’s ease of use…

Derek Gomez wrote:

Scott: people should refer to large areas of land in terms of football fields. Or at least we should figure out how many acres are in a football field. I just think conceptualizing land area is hard in general… If someone told me it was 1000 square yards, it would still be hard to visualize, even though I can visualize a square yard or square meter easily…

Derek Gomez wrote:

But yeah, I don’t need a new G4 either — and won’t refuse a 12 fl. oz. (355 mL) can of Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb, although I wouldn’t pick it myself…

21.

scott - i hate it when people tell me how many square feet their apartment or house is. I have no concept of that. None at all. What’s a lot? 1000 ? 500? I don’t know. How much do I have? no idea.

22.

Thomas Mertz wrote:

Well … I wouldn’t accept ar Dr. Pepper if it was offered to me, can’t stand the taste … (don’t know Mr. Pibb, though) … but I wouldn’t refuse a new G4 … but then again who would? ;)

Why football fields? Why not tennis courts? Or perhaps ping-pong tables? smirk ;) (just me being dumb … we europeans are like that sometimes)

23.

Here’s my two cents on this bizarre conversation before this entry falls into the archives… The G4s are cool, but not cooler enough than my PowerBook to go running out to buy one. G5s in January baby! (Yeah, right.) Dr. Pepper and Mr. Pibb are disgusting. I like Vanilla Coke. Reminds me of Maui. The auto line break thing is in the forums not the weblog comments. Need to sync up the functionality at some point. European soda cans have always and will always frighten me. The metric system rules. I know it’s a drastic undertaking but America needs to make the switch.

24.

if they would make Diet Vanilla Coke I might drink it..

25.

Nick seems oddly silent on the Vanilla Coke issue…aren’t you the one who’s been drinking that stuff for years? Or at least you drank it years ago?

no - it was chocolate coke.
