Friscosity
As if I didn’t already have way, way, way too much on my plate right now, I humbly direct your attention to our group blogging experiment of 2004: Friscosity. If you’re a Bay Area-dwelling blogger who’d like to contribute the occasional story, please contact me.
What exactly is the experiment and what is your involvement? Information seems to be scarce on the site.

The experiment is to host a multi-author weblog on a sophisticated publishing platform and hopefully conjure up something worthwhile without investing scads of time in it. My involvement includes organizing the authors, maintaining the template code, and (like all the authors) occasionally posting. Information is scarce because we don’t know what we are yet. In short, it’s a weblog, about San Francisco, and I think that’s very clear.

You should get together (or at least talk with this guy (Hank Donat) and maybe Mark Morford or Phil Frank. Not that any of them do blogs, but they all have a passion for San Francisco. In particularly Phil Frank and Hank Donat (even calling himself “Mister SF”) take on a Herb Caen level of passion and interest and involvement with San Francisco. I happen to love Phil’s work, too!
I’m happy to help on Friscosity as long as you promise that the words “Frisco” (or even “Cali”) never ever appear on the site except to say, “San Francisco, or The City, is never ever referred to as ‘Frisco.’” :-)

I like the effort, the idea, and the design—except for one thing…the type is waaaaaaay too small for white type/black background reading. I’m sitting with my notebook screen about 1 1/2 feet from my face and it hurt to read :(

I do at least applaud your use of %-based sizing for the text…I can adjust my browser to read your site…I just don’t like to have to do that, hehe.

Ah good. That’s born more out of laziness. My latest thing is to define all font sizes using small, x-small, x-large, and so forth. Keeps it simple. I’ll play around with making the font larger or at least some alternate stylesheets.
